I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I have to be so hard on you. I know you think it’s too much sometimes. I promise you that one day you will understand. I’m sorry that the world wants you to fail. I can’t let that happen, and so I must be harder on you than you might like. Although you might not know it yet, I am building your strength. Despite my best efforts to do so, I won’t be able to save you from everything that is about to come your way. And so I must make you strong in preparation for the day when you must face this fight alone. Don’t worry, son. I’m not leaving any time soon. I will be here to fight beside you for as long as I can. There will come a day, though, when you won’t have me to guide your every step. Until then, I will build your strength. I will make you stronger than I am.
I’m sorry that you were born with enemies. For reasons that I cannot explain, there are those who will attack you, both mentally and physically, not for things you’ve done but for who you are. I’m sorry that those who are closest to you will more often than not help your enemies rather than aid you, son. They will question your strength and alienate you. Please know that when they question you, they are really questioning themselves. You will confuse them, son. They will wonder where your strength comes from. They will wonder how you rise so high and stand so tall. Don’t take it personally, son. They see your strength and they question their own. Don’t bow to appease them. Never bow to anyone, son. Remember who you are. As for your enemies, their strength cannot match yours. You need not fear them. They will attack you mentally in hopes that you forget your strength. When that doesn’t work, they will attack you physically. If this happens, you remember the things I’ve taught you. A fight is always a bad idea, son. When possible, avoid it. When necessarily, end it quickly. Never forget the goal. The fight is not the goal. The fight is a distraction. Remember that and you will be fine, son.
I’m sorry that I seem angry with you sometimes. I am tired, son. I am tired from the fight. I’ve been fighting for a long time. I worry for you. I worry that I won’t have the strength to teach you what you need to know. It would be easier to give up the fight. I could let the world have you to shape and mold, but I won’t. I can’t, son. I love you too much. I’m not angry with you. I’m angry that the world is coming for you. I’m angry that I can’t stop it from coming. I can’t end the fight, so I must make you strong.
One day you will understand. One day you will stand beside me in this battle. Until then, son, I’m sorry that I must be so hard. I promise, you will thank me one day.
With Love,
Dad
